THE ROSALIND ELLERBEE SCHOLARSHIP
Rosalind (Roz) Ellerbee, a Howard University alumna, was a founding member of the Howard Club of Southwest FL, Inc. As a demonstration of her commitment to support the educational and financial benefits of Howard, Roz and a group of Manasota area alumni and friends also founded the first Howard University Charter Day Luncheon on March 12, 2006.
Roz earned a Bachelor’s Degree, a Master’s Degree, and a Doctoral Equivalency for School Superintendent Certification. She mentored and encouraged hundreds of youth as a college placement advisor, guidance counselor, teacher and administrator at her former high school for 33 years.
Roz dedicated her life to service and belonged to the Bergen County-Passaic Howard University Alumni Club, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, the National Council of Negro Women, the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH), and the NAACP. She was a volunteer usher for youth concerts, the Sarasota Ballet, the Sarasota Opera and the Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe. Roz departed this life on March 4, 2018.
